ABOUT ME
My name is Jonathan, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist based in New York, currently offering virtual therapy for adults (18+) across the state.
I am passionate about helping individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and stress around creativity and performance. My work is relational- meaning we explore how your relationships shape your inner world, and trauma-informed, ensuring that safety and compassion are at the core of our sessions.
With warmth, curiosity, and respect, I aim to create an affirming and inclusive space where you can feel seen, supported, and understood. My goal is not only to help you gain insight but to also support meaningful transformation in how you relate to yourself and others.
My Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping others. I received my PhD from Smith College’s School for Clinical Social Work. Prior to pursuing my doctorate, I received a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University.
I started my private practice to help others. My experience is primarily but not exclusively working with young men, working adults, and LGBTQ+ identifying individuals. I currently serve as a Clinical Supervisor at the Institute for Human Identity, a non-profit LGBTQ+ affirmative psychotherapy center.
Before opening my private practice in 2020, I gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both clinical and community settings. I trained and practiced (2015-2020) as an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist at the Institute for Human Identity. As part of a two year training program (2019-2021) at the William Alanson White Institute, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults facing anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My early work also included serving as a child and adolescent psychotherapist and coaching youth sports, experiences that have shaped my understanding of development, resilience, and connection.
In addition to my clinical work, I have taught and consulted widely. I have trained mental health professionals on topics including HIV/AIDS, substance use, harm reduction, LGBTQ+ competency, and mental health. I have taught graduate-level courses at Fordham University, and I have served as a consultant and board member for With Grace Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to therapy for adolescents in New York City.
